Reflection 1: Telegram as a Communicative Tool

Telegram is more than just a chat app for us. It is where school updates, reminders, study notes, and even fun quizzes show up. Features like pinned messages keep everything organized, and bots make learning a bit more interactive. It helps us stay connected, supported, and informed all in one place. one of the interseting feature of telegram is it has poll that allows to ask a question and give multiple-choice answers that people can vote on. It’s commonly used in group chats, channels, or private chats to gather opinions, make decisions, or just have fun. There are three types of polls in Telegram:
 1. Anonymous Poll – Voters’ identities are hidden.
2. Visible Votes – Everyone can see who voted for what.
 3. Quiz Mode – Only one correct answer, great for quizzes.

As a student teacher, I have found Telegram to be an incredibly effective communicative tool in the context of teaching and learning. Its wide range of features offers both flexibility and immediacy, which are essential in today’s fast-paced educational environment. My experiences with using Telegram for academic purposes have shown how it bridges the communication gap between teachers and students while promoting collaboration and engagement.

One of the key benefits of Telegram is its ability to host group chats with a large number of members. In our class, Telegram groups are used to share notes, links, important updates, and even voice messages. This makes it much easier for everyone to stay informed, even if they miss a class or session. I especially appreciate the “pinned messages” feature, which helps in organizing important information like deadlines, schedules, and resources.

Telegram also supports multimedia sharing, including documents, images, and videos, which makes it easier for educators to provide learning materials directly to students. This has been particularly helpful in subjects where visual aids and demonstrations enhance understanding. For example, our ENA tutor shared tutorial videos and infographics via Telegram, which I could access at any time according to my convenience.

Another feature that stands out is the use of Telegram Bots and Channels. Educational bots can help with quizzes, flashcards, and even quick assessments, making learning interactive and personalized. Meanwhile, channels run by instructors can function like announcement boards, ensuring students never miss out on important updates without the distraction of group chat discussions.

From a communication standpoint, Telegram promotes quick and informal dialogue, encouraging students to ask questions freely and interact more frequently with peers and teachers. This has contributed to a more supportive and responsive learning environment

Overall, my experience with Telegram as a communicative tool in education has been very positive. It supports both synchronous and asynchronous communication, making it adaptable to various teaching styles. With its user-friendly interface and wide accessibility, Telegram truly enhances classroom communication, student engagement, and the overall teaching-learning process. This is the reason why I would still prefer using telegram in the context of teaching and learning in the future.
